La CAAC cloue au sol la compagnie China Express Airlines China Express Air grounded by CAAC after landing incident CAAC ordered China Express Air to suspend operations Wednesday after the right wing of one of its CRJ200's scraped the runway on landing at Guiyang Airport in southwest China Saturday. No one was injured in the incident.
But CAAC said "it exposed potential hazards in the carrier's operation." The regulator has sent a team of investigators to evaluate the incident and decide when to allow the carrier to resume operations.
"We have been operating for four years and this is the first time our airplane has met with a safety problem. It is a special case but we will find out the reason and conduct widespread safety checks," said China Express GM Chen Huaiyun.
CAAC has been conducting inspections of the country's commercial aircraft fleet in the aftermath of the Aug. 24 Henan Airlines Embraer 190 crash at Yichun City (

China Express was launched in 2006. Shanghai-based Cathay Fortune Corp. holds a 40% stake while High Hero International Ltd. and Tampines International Ltd. hold 25% and 24% stakes respectively. A Beijing technology company holds the remaining 11%.
The carrier operates a fleet of four CRJ400s leased from GECAS on more than 20 domestic routes. It plans to expand its fleet to 30 aircraft in the next 3-5 yr. and increase its domestic routes to more than 90, according to the company's website.
