La flotte long-courrier d’Egyptair a reçu sa dernière acquisition.

Boeing a annoncé le 9 mars qu’il avait remis son premier B777-300ER de la compagnie égyptienne.
L’appareil a été acquis en leasing auprès de GECAS.

Ce B777-300ER est aménagé en configuration biclasse de 346 places, dont quarante-neuf en classe affaires.

Cinq autres appareils, dotés de la même configuration et également en leasing, doivent intégrer la flotte d’ici le deuxième trimestre 2011.

Egyptair exploite actuellement cinq B777-200ER, cinq B737-500 et douze B737-800.

Elle attend encore huit exemplaires du monocouloir nouvelle génération, issus de la conversion d’une commande de deux B777, annoncée en août 2009.

Elle possède également des Airbus : treize A320, quatre A321, trois A340-200 et sept A330-200. Elle détient enfin une commande pour cinq A330-300 auprès de l’avionneur européen.

Première liaison Cairo / LHR par B 777-300ER le 15 mars

On Monday morning, 15th of March, EGYPTAIR new B777-300ER made its first take off to London Heathrow.

Captain Alaa Ashour, EGYPTAIR Chairman and CEO, welcomed the customers flying on this flight and he accompanied them till the take off.

The customers expressed their happiness for this state-of-the-art aircraft which is considered as a quantum leap in the history of EGYPTAIR.

They expressed their admiration about the new Full Flat Beds, personal screens and the new lightening system provided on board.

Egyptair opère déja 7 A 330-243 (motorisation RR Trent 772 ) tandis que les 3 Airbus A 340-200 sont retirés progressivement du service.

Capt Alaa Ashour the Chairman and CEO of EGYPTAIR Airlines, who flies the A330-300 back to Cairo himself, expressed his happiness with the new aircraft saying “This aircraft is a good leap of EGYPTAIR as it provides the on board Wireless internet and mobile services facilities to be the first aircraft in Africa from this type. Moreover, this aircraft will operate the daily non-stop morning flight between Cairo and London.”

This aircraft embraces a number of the latest technologies; like using the wireless internet and personal mobile on board, besides using the GSM, SMS and GPRS services. The passengers flying onboard the new A330-300 will be able to make phone calls through their personal mobiles with the same international calls rate of their service providers, in addition to the ability of sending SMS and using the mobile internet service. Moreover, the customers will enjoy using the WI-FI service throughout their flight.

With these innovative services, EGYPTAIR will enable its customers from keeping in touch with their business, families and friends throughout all their relaxing flight.

The new A330-300 accommodates 301 seats, of which 36 in business class and 265 in economy class. All EGYPTAIR customers flying onboard the aircraft will be able to recharge their personal devices while relaxing on their elegant seats and they will be also able to sleep on their 160ú Flat Beds, or they will indulge themselves in hundreds of entertainment options with personal entertainment system screened on the 15.4” screens.

Further, EGYPTAIR’s newest A330-300 economy seats provide wider and more relaxing seats with personal entertainment system displayed on the back of every sear to enable the customers and their families from selecting from the best entertainment programs; this is in addition to providing electricity plug in every seat.

ROLLS-ROYCE WINS $350 MILLION ORDER FROM EGYPTAIR Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has won an order worth $350m from Egyptair for extended TotalCare® long-term services for 12 Airbus A330 aircraft.

Egyptair currently operates eight A330s and four are due to be delivered in 2010 and 2011.
