Sécurité

Ce type d'avion a subi cinq accidents majeurs avant 1970 pour un nombre total de 147 décès.

Le pire accident se produisit le [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] quand la « séparation du moteur n^o 2 et de l'hélice du reste de l'avion » a

Aero Spacelines Guppies

Pendant les années 1960, [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] a modifié plusieurs Stratocruisers pour en faire des avions à fret surdimensionnés, baptisés "Guppy"s.

It first flew on July 8, 1947.

It had the speed and range to span ocean routes, enabling flying from New York to Hawaii in less than 24 hours.

Extremely complex and expensive to operate, only 56 were built as airliners.
