SolomonAirlines inaugure son Airbus A 330 et doit recevoir un A 320 prochainement.
Un lien avec Strategic Aviation. Le feuilleton d'été, plein de soleil !
SOLOMON Airlines yesterday launched its newly introduced Airbus service with its bigger Airbus A330-300.
The launching went ahead despite the smaller airbus A320-200 meant for the service is still in France.
The airbus will arrive sometimes this week.
However to ensure the service resume as planned Solomon Airlines and Strategic Aviation used the A330-300 on the maiden flight into Honiara from Brisbane.
The partnership came into reality after National Carrier Solomon Airlines signed an agreement with Strategic Aviation of Australia in May.
The airbus A330-300 can carry about 287 passengers compared to the A320-200 which can take only 156 passengers.
Yesterday around 200 passengers made it onto the maiden flight.
Under the deal, Strategic Aviation provides an airbus to Solomon Airlines to service the Brisbane-Honiara-Brisbane lucrative route.
Solomon Airlines made its mark with the arrival of an Airbus A330-200 at the Honiara International Airport.
It’s the second time such an airbus, which has carrying capacity of 280 passengers, to land at the Honiara International Airport.
Last December a similar airbus was chartered by the Ministry of Education to transport about 280 students studying at various institution in Fiji back to Honiara for their end year vacation.
Close to 200 passengers made the inaugral flight from Brisbane into Honiara with much excitement.
------------
"The delays were beyond our control and this was partly to do with the lack of resources available within the Civil Aviation department in France,” Gus Kraus of Solomon Airlines said.
“This in turn delayed the aircraft from positioning to Brisbane to operate our services,” he said.
The aircraft A320 is expected to be released to fly to Brisbane sometime this week and will be ready for Solomon Airlines services by the following Monday 10th August.
-----------
The bigger aircraft will give Solomon Ailrines the added capacity to meet the nation's growing tourism around 18% annually.
Solomon Airlines Chairman Bill Tyson prior to the launch of the service said this is part of securing longer term arrangement to operate the international services which the capacity for growth.
Strategic airline provides services to the Australian Defence Force and operates regular charter flights for other government and corporate customers within Australiasia with its Australian-based airbus A330-300.
Solomon Airlines move into striking the deal with Strategic Aviation due to a number of poor schedules provided by Our Airline during prime times and demanding times.
Once the A320 arrives, the aircraft will be operated by the Strategic pilots and the cabin exclusively manned by Solomon Airlines flight attendants.
