[Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] in 2007 ordered 44 A320s for delivery from 2012. Chief executive Adel Ali says the first two aircraft from this order are now scheduled to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2010 with another four aircraft to be delivered in 2011.
Ali says deferrals by other [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] operators have given Air Arabia the opportunity to move up six delivery slots from 2012 to 2010 and 2011. He says the carrier is now looking at potentially further accelerating its order to give it mores 2011 slots.
"We talk to [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] every week," Ali told Flight Daily News after signing at the show a $36 million auxiliary power unit contract with Honeywell. "The downturn in the market has freed up slots, which helps our growth."
Honeywell has been tapped to supply its 131-9A APU for all 44 of the A320s ordered by Air Arabia. Ali says the carrier now uses another APU supplier on its current fleet of 21 A320s, which include 17 leased and four purchased aircraft.
Ali says Air Arabia is now committed to leasing four additional A320s next year, which will be delivered before the first of the ordered aircraft is delivered in October. Two of these aircraft will be used to launch Air Arabia Egypt in March. Ali says the new Egyptian operation is likely to be based in Alexandria and serve routes to Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
Ali says Air Arabia Morocco, a Casablanca-based operation that was launched earlier this year, will also expand its fleet in 2010 from three to five A320s. Air Arabia's main operation, which is based in Sharjah, is now due to expand its fleet from 18 to 20 A320s next year.
Ali says Air Arabia is talking to lessors about potentially leasing more aircraft in 2010 to support faster expansion in Egypt and Morocco. But he adds that Air Arabia, which expects to end 2009 slightly in the black, will be cautious and will be careful not to expand too fast.
"The market is not the best right now. There is certainly a lot of pressure on yields," Ali says. "Under the circumstances we've done pretty well but 2009 has been challenging and 2010 is an unknown."

Air Arabia a enfin obtenu le feu vert pour lancer ses opérations en Egypte.

La compagnie de Sharjah a annoncé le 22 mai que les autorités égyptiennes lui avaient accordé son certificat opérationnel.
Elle pourra ainsi démarrer ses services depuis Alexandrie (Burj Al-Arab) dès le 1er juin.

La première destination au programme de vols d’Air Arabia Egypt est Khartoum.

La capitale soudanaise sera desservie deux fois par semaine à partir du 1er juin.

Koweït sera intégrée au nombre des destinations dès le lendemain. La ville arabe s’est quant à elle vu attribuer quatre
rotations hebdomadaires.

Deux appareils seront initialement basés à Alexandrie Burj Al-Arab – un aéroport qu’Air Arabia ne dessert pas encore puisque ses liaisons actuelles atterrissent à El Nozha.

Ce nouveau hub permettra à la compagnie arabe de poursuivre son expansion tout en se diversifiant.

Elle ressent en effet de plus en plus la pression de ses concurrentes, notamment de flydubai. Elle pourra également aller chercher de nouveaux marchés en Europe et en Afrique du Nord.

Air Arabia Egypt a été créée sous forme de joint-venture avec le groupe de tourisme égyptien Travco.

Air Arabia, the first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC) in the Middle East and North Africa, and Tantash Group, an Amman-based diversified investment company active in the travel sector, announced today the signing of a joint venture agreement to launch a new low-cost carrier based in Amman, Jordan.

The announcement followed a function organised in Amman under the patronage and attendance of his Excellency Minister of Transport, Engineer Alaa Batayneh.

Air Arabia ‘Jordan,’ the first LCC based in the Hashemite Kingdom, will provide direct service to a range of destinations across the Europe, Middle East and North Africa region from Queen Alia International Airport.

This announcement follows the recent launch of operations of Air Arabia third hub in Alexandria.

Following the launch of Air Arabia ‘Jordan,’ the carrier will provide service from four hubs spanning the Middle East
and North Africa region, including its primary hub in Sharjah, UAE, and its Moroccan hub at Mohamed V Airport in Casablanca, which introduced service in April 2009.

Air Arabia, the first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC) in the Middle East and North Africa, announced today its financial results for the three months ending June 30, 2010, demonstrating continued profitability during a period characterised by lower yields among airlines worldwide.

Air Arabia’s net profit for the three months ending June 30, 2010, stood at AED 50 million, a decline of 44 per cent compared to AED 90 million in the corresponding period in 2009.

This decline in profitability was in line with global industry performance, which continues to be impacted by changing market dynamics, characterized by increase in fuel costs and continuous pressure on yield margins.

In the second quarter of this year, Air Arabia posted a turnover of AED 485 million, an increase of 6 per cent compared to AED 458 million in the same period of 2009.

The airline served 1,108,310 passengers in the second quarter of 2010, an increase of 11 per cent compared to 1,002,394 passengers in the same period last year. In the three months ending June 30, 2010, Air Arabia’s average seat load factor – or passengers carried as a percentage of available seats – stood at an impressive 82 per cent, an increase of 4% compared to same period of 2009.

“We are pleased with Air Arabia’s solid performance despite over all challenging market conditions,” said Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammad Al Thani, Chairman of Air Arabia. “Air Arabia continues to post sustained quarterly profits with a high seat load factor and rising passenger traffic. These results demonstrate the strength of Air Arabia’s business
model and long-term expansion strategy”.

“The airline has embarked upon a phase of organic growth, now operating from three hubs across the region”, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammad Al Thani continued. “We are focused on further expanding our operations while strengthening our value-for-money offerings and innovative products.”

In the second quarter of 2010, the airline launched operations from its third hub in Alexandria, Egypt. Air Arabia currently offers service to 65 routes across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia from three hubs in UAE, Morocco and Egypt.

The low-cost carrier also announced the formation of Jordan’s first low-cost carrier in a joint venture with Tantash Group.

AIR Arabia, the first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC) in the Middle East and North Africa, has taken delivery of its first A320 aircraft.
It is the first of 44 planes ordered by the airline, with wings made at the Airbus plant in Broughton, near Chester. Air Arabia's order will make it one of the region's largest A320 operators.

Air Arabia already operates a fleet of 23 leased A320s.
From its three main hubs, Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, Casablanca in Morocco, and Alexandria in Egypt, the carrier serves a network of some 65 international routes from Europe to the Middle East, as well as the Indian sub-continent, Central Asia and North Africa.

Air Arabia (PJSC), the Middle East and North Africa’s first and largest low-cost carrier, announced today its financial results for the three months ending March 31, 2012, demonstrating the carrier’s resilience and surpassing analysts’ expectations.

Air Arabia’s net profit for the three months ending March 31, 2012, stood at AED 49.2 million, an increase of 11 per cent compared to AED 44.2 million in the corresponding period in 2011.

The positive results achieved in the first quarter of 2012 reflect the airline’s strong operating performance, leading market share and solid profitability path.

In the first quarter of this year, Air Arabia posted a turnover of AED 621 million, an increase of 21 per cent compared to AED 513 million in the same period of 2011.

The airline served 1,230,807 passengers in the first quarter of 2012, an increase of 7 per cent compared to 1,153,807 passengers in the same period last year.

In the three months ending March 31, 2012, Air Arabia’s average seat load factor – or passengers carried as a
percentage of available seats – stood at an impressive 82 per cent.

“Shortly after the distribution of a six per cent cash dividend was approved by the Assembly at Air Arabia’s Annual General Meeting, we are pleased to announce our positive results for the first quarter of this year, demonstrating Air Arabia’s strong business model and excellent market appeal,” said Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammad Al Thani, Chairman of
Air Arabia.

“Though political instability and sustained high fuel costs continue to challenge regional carriers, the appeal of air transport, and especially the low-cost model pioneered by Air Arabia in the region, remains strong. As these results make clear, Air Arabia remains on a path of steady upward growth.”

He continued: “Air Arabia will continue to enter into new markets and to launch new ventures in 2012, supporting the airline’s robust commercial and operational performance, while providing our customers with an even wider choice of affordable air travel options.”

The first quarter of this year saw Air Arabia flights to Kuwait and Dammam increase to three times daily.

As well, Air Arabia’s total operating fleet reached 30 aircraft, while the carrier took delivery of the ninth of 44 A320 aircraft it has ordered from Airbus.

The airline will receive five more A320 aircraft this year, which is in line with Air Arabia’s growth plan to further expand its destination network and significantly grow the size of its fleet by 2016.

Air Arabia recently added six new destinations to its ever growing network – Erbil in Iraq, Uffaand Rostov in Russia, Odessa in Ukraine, Pristina in Kosovo and Astana in Kazakhstan.

The carrier also expanded operations from its Moroccan hub and launched new flights between Morocco and London, bringing Air Arabia’s global network to reach 81 destinations.
