Russian Ministry of Defense will acquire more than 140 Ка-52 helicopters

Russian Ministry of Defense will acquire more than 140 Ка-52 helicopters, RBC reports. It has been stated by the CEO of Oboronprom, Andrey Reus. The amount of transaction will be around $4,09 billion (120 billion rubles). Russian Helicopters have confirmed the signing of the contract, reporting that more than 100 vehicles will be acquired. The company added that the contract has been signed on August 31^st 2011.

In addition, according to Reus, it is planned to allocate about $250 million on scientific research. In particular, the funds will be used for development of Mi-38, Ka-62, Mi-34S1 helicopters and modernization of Mi-17 product line.

As reported by the CEO of Progress Holding (forming part of Russian Helicopters) Yuri Denisenko, the first preproduction run of Ка-52К helicopters of Mistral helicopter carriers will be manufactured in 2012 and the batch production will be started in 2014. It is planned to deliver more than 100 helicopters of this type by 2020.

According to the call of Russian Minister of Defense, the variant of new Ка-52 must have folding blades made of composites. As against the main rival (American Apache), Ка-52 helicopters have the exclusive system of reactive pilots rescue.

We remind you that France is constructing two Mistral helicopter carriers for Russia. The contract on delivery of Mistrals has been signed on June 17^th 2011 in the network of International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg. The amount of the deal is more than €1,1 billion. The first ship may be put into operation in 2014
