L'[Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] AM est un biplan postal monoplace dessiné en 1923 par Paul Zimmerman pour remplacer les [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] utilisés pour le transport postal aux [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien].
La formule était classique, biplan à ailes inégales décalées et train classique fixe, mais le fuselage était à structure métallique avec revêtement en aluminium, une nouveauté aux [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien].
AM-1 Mail Plane
Premier prototype. L’appareil souffrait de problèmes de stabilité qui entrainèrent rapidement son abandon.
Ce monoplace avait une charge utile de 715 kg.
AM-2 Night Mail Carrier
Second prototype, le radiateur du moteur Liberty, situé initialement au bord d’attaque du plan supérieur, étant repositionné sous le moteur.
AM-3 Night Mail Carrier
Troisième et dernier prototype. Le radiateur était positionné devant le moteur et le réservoir de carburant transféré du plan supérieur au fuselage.
Malgré ces modifications successives cet appareil se révéla décevant et ne fut pas construit en série.

The Aeromarine AM-1 was a [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] built to pursue a US Air Mail Service requirement for a nighttime transport.
Design and development
The AM-1 was completed 122 days from the announcement of a requirement for a nighttime mail plane capable of hauling 300 lb (136 kg) of mail.
The AM-1 was a biplane with [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien], it featured a all-metal [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] with metal covering .32 in (8.13 mm) thick.
The engine was fully cowled with the exhaust stacks stretching behind the pilot.
The water-cooled engine used a centrally mounted radiator mounted above the top wing for visibility.
Two streamlined fuel tanks sat on top of the wings.
