The selection of Agusta Westland marks an important milestone in the long supplier-buyer relationship between it and Swidnik’ Giuseppe Orsi, president of Agusta Westland told a press conference. ‘The cooperation started 13 years ago.
Agusta Westland, now in its new role as a majority shareholder, commits to share its know-how, resources and management. We bring most up-to-date technologies and the possibility for Poland to play a stronger role on the international aviation market’ he added.
The deal was closed after a year of negotiation. Ryszard Dąbrowski of the state Industry Development Agency (ARP) the existing owner of the plant assured that the prolonged tender procedure allowed to chose a partner providing the largest development possibilities, best investment and social package. ‘Privatisation of Swidnik aviation parts producer is one of the examples of how privatisation should be carried out and a good example of cooperation between countries within the EU’ Krzysztof Jaszkiewicz, Undersecretary of State in the Treasury ministry said.
AgustaWestland is now the owner of 87% shares in Swidnik and plans to double production.
