Middle Eastern carrier Emirates is to deploy [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] aircraft on services to Manchester in the northern UK.
It will replace [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] aircraft which currently perform the EK017 and EK018 flights between Manchester and Dubai.
Daily operations using the 517-seat aircraft are set to begin on 1 September.
"Manchester has been one of the strongest performers in our growing network of regional gateways, not only in the UK
but globally as well," says [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] president Tim Clark.
Emirates has served Manchester since 1990 and the carrier introduced a twice-daily flight in 2003.
Manchester Airport's operator describes the decision to bring the A380 onto the route as a "historic moment", adding that it has invested some £10 million ($15 million) in modernisation to accommodate the type.

Résultats provisoire de l'exercice fiscal 31 mars pour EK Group
Report sur ATW :
[Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Emirates Group reported net income of AED4.2 billion ($1.14 billion) for its fiscal year ended March 31, a substantial increase over a AED1.49 billion profit in 2008-09, marking its 22nd consecutive profitable year despite what it described as "a year fraught with worldwide market instability and economic uncertainty."
Group revenue was essentially flat at AED45.4 billion, "reflecting lower passenger and cargo yields offset by increased traffic," EK said.
The group's airline unit posted a net profit of AED3.5 billion for FY2009-10, a nearly fourfold increase over a AED686 million profit in the prior year, on a 0.4% rise in revenue to AED43.5 billion.
Chairman and CEO Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said, "It has been an exceptional year of continued profitability against a backdrop of the worst global recession in generations."
He noted that the carrier took delivery of 15 new aircraft in FY2009-10 comprising
four A380s,
10 777-300ERs
and one 777F
and carried 21% more passengers year-over-year.
At the end of the financial year its fleet stood at 142 aircraft.
It is the world's largest operator of 777s with 78.
It has 146 aircraft on order valued at more than $48 billion and plans continued aggressive growth.
"We have no intention of pulling back the reins on our expansion plans to suit the needs of our competition," Al Maktoum said.
EK stated that despite a 16.9% lift in capacity to 28.53 billion ATKs, operating costs lowered 2.7%, resulting in a 16.6% unit cost improvement.
Contributing to the lower expenses was a AED2.5 billion drop in fuel costs owing to lower prices.
Passenger yield declined 16.9% to 57.5 cents.
Emirates SkyCargo carried 1.6 million tonnes of cargo, up 12.2%, but cargo revenue lowered 8.1% to AED6.3 billion "as the result of declining yields." Cargo revenue made up 17.2% of the airline's total revenue.

Emirates will begin flying its A380 to Jeddah daily from today, following the superjumbo’s successful entrance into the market in February.
Ahmed Khoory, Emirates’ Senior Vice President Commercial Operations Gulf, Middle East and Iran said:
“The popularity of the A380 into Jeddah has exceeded our initial expectations. Passenger loads across all three
classes are performing extremely well and this is testament to the excellent quality product that we continue to offer our customers.”
The A380 is the only three class configuration aircraft to fly into Saudi Arabia, bringing Emirates’ Business Class to the country for the first time.
Khoory continued: “The addition of Business Class seats on services to Jeddah has been highly anticipated by the market.
The A380 not only gives passengers the opportunity to try our Business Class services but has also increased our overall capacity on this route by 17 percent overall.”
From 22nd June Emirates is also increasing its services to Riyadh. The carrier will operate one additional flight per week on a Tuesday, having already added a further three weekly flights for summer, bringing its total weekly services to 11. The four additional summer services will be available up to 30th October.
Saudi Arabia has been at the forefront of Emirates’ Middle East plans this year with Jeddah the first city in the Middle East, outside of Dubai, to play host to an Emirates A380.
In addition Emirates has recently announced that it will commence a limited service to Al Medinah al Munawarrah from 2nd July to 24th September 2010, catering for increased demand during this peak travel period.
