Ethiopian Airlines va prendre 4 B777 freighters

Ethiopian Airlines set to buy four B777 freighters
The Ethiopian Airlines is concluding a deal with the US aircraft manufacturer, Boeing, for the purchase of four state-of-the art Boeing 777 freighter aircraft.
A senior official of Ethiopian told The Reporter that the management of Ethiopian and executives of Boeing have been negotiating for almost a year for the purchase of the new aircraft. The official said the two parties will announce the deal soon.
A representative of Boeing has confirmed the new deal. The representative said the agreement will be signed in the coming few weeks. The growing demand for cargo flight services prompted Ethiopian to place orders for the new B777 jetliners. Recently Ethiopian signed a lease agreement with GECAS for two B777 aircraft to be delivered in September 2012. The lease agreement for the two B777 is ten years.
The B777 freighter aircraft has the capacity to haul 100 tons of cargo at a time. The catalogue price of the aircraft is 260 million dollars. Boeing will deliver the four aircraft after three years.
With six freighter aircraft (two B757-200F, two B747s and two MD 11s) Ethiopian has the largest cargo fleet in Africa. When the two leased B777 arrive, Ethiopian will sell one of the MD 11 it owns and return the other leased MD11. And when the first two B777 are delivered after three years Ethiopian will return the two leased B747s to Southern Air, the American leasing company.
In the 2010-2011 fiscal year, Ethiopian cargo traffic has grown by 20 percent to 160,000 tons when compared to the previous fiscal year. The growing horticulture and meat exports have significantly contributed to the surge in cargo traffic.

Bonjour, chers tous. Merci, Jeannot.

- L'A330-200F va marquer le pas jusqu'à ce que les clients, qui le souhaitent, auront pu exercer la possibilité de convertir leurs A330-300 en version "F", ou ceux de leur flotte qu'ils souhaitent convertir ;
- l'A330-200F est un "freighter" bien plus souple à l'exploitation que ne le sera l'A330-300F (avion convertis ; pas de "new-build" en perspective), et aura toute sa place dans une flotte de "freighter" A330 mixte (-200F / -300F) ;
- le -200F apporte des combinaisons 'distances franchissables / poids emportés' , susceptibles d'apporter, en supplément, une efficacité et une souplesse accrues, aux honnêtes performances que la version -300F pourra offrir ;
- "Ethiopian Airlines" a besoin de modules de fret de dimension intrinsèquement plus importante à ce stade ; la Cie. n'est pa convaincue par sa propre capacité à tirer la quintessence des freighters B747, et juge le B747-8F trop gros pour ses besoins prévisionnels ;
- tout comme Martinair et Lufthansa, la Cie. "Ethiopian" a apprécié la "rationalité" du fuselage des versions 'fret' DC-10 et MD-11, et regrette que Boeing ne les fasse plus ; tant pis ; mais, les B777-200F offrent une excellente solution de remplacement ;

Ethiopian Airlines orders four Boeing 777 Freighters
The order is worth approximately $1.1 billion at list prices, although customers get substantial discounts. Boeing previously listed the order on its [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] as coming from an unidentified customer.
“As the largest African cargo carrier operating in some of the fastest growing trade lanes of the world — between Africa and Europe, Middle East and Asia – the new 777 Freighter fleet will significantly enhance our tonnage and range capabilities,” Ethiopian CEO Tewolde Gebremariam said in a news release. “The proven operational and economical efficiency of these airplanes will reposition Ethiopian Cargo in a stronger place to continue winning in this hypercompetitive market.”
Ethiopian Airlines was the first to operate the 777-200LR and flies all Boeing aircraft.

Commande normale ? Mon oeil ! Commande 'de compensation', à un prix bradé, pour compenser la Cie. Ethiopian pour les retards très importants dans les livraisons du programme B787 !
Le rituel des échanges de politesses ne trompe personne.ET CEO Tewolde Gebremariam said, "The performance and range of the airplane allowed us to open direct routes from Washington DC to Addis Ababa as well as Addis Ababa to Beijing, Toronto and other long-range routes. In line with our Vision 2025, we plan to provide more and more non-stop, long-haul flights to connect east, west, north and south using the strategic location of our Addis Ababa hub," he said.
Pour le moment ! "Ethiopian" a commandé 12 x A350-XWB-900, n'est-ce pas ?EY operates an all-Boeing fleet of 737, 757, 767 and 777 airplanes in passenger service and a 757, MD-1 and 747 in cargo operations.

[Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien]' first Boeing 787-8 [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] landed today at Addis Ababa Bole international airport after its first revenue flight from Washington Dulles.
The aircraft, registration ET-AOQ and operating flight 2501, touched down in rainy weather at 09:04 local time as hundreds of staff members from the airline stood waiting on the airport's tarmac. More than 60 passengers, including the airline's chief executive Tewolde Gebremariam, were on board.
Ethiopian took delivery of the aircraft from Boeing in Everett, Washington, on 14 August before flying it to Washington the next day. The aircraft departed the US capital on 16 August at 13:14 as a revenue flight, following its regularly scheduled daily flight between Washington Dulles and Addis Ababa which was operated by a [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien].
The Star Alliance carrier, which has ordered 10 [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien], is the third airline to take delivery of the aircraft after Japan's All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines. Hailing the moment as historic, Gebremariam says being the third carrier to fly the 787 is testament to Ethiopian's standing in the aviation industry.
Ethiopian has secured $1 billion of financing guaranteed by JP Morgan for the 10 787s, with the US Export-Import Bank providing the loans that cover 85% of the aircraft cost. The balance will be financed by a group of financial institutions including ING Capital, the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund, The Netherlands Development Finance Company, the ICF Debt Pool, and from its own balance sheet.
"With uncertainty in the aircraft financing market about a potential funding gap and tightening credit conditions, JP Morgan's $1 billion aircraft financing is testimony to our trusted relationship with Ethiopian Airlines and the strength and capacity of our trade finance capabilities," says Jeremy Shaw, head of trade finance business for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at JP Morgan.
The airline will operate the aircraft on a sightseeing flight around Mount Kilimanjaro on 18 August, before flying it to various destinations in Africa, Europe and the Middle East from 19 August.
Gebremariam said previously that Ethiopian will use the aircraft on its Addis Ababa to Washington Dulles flight after it accepts its second 787 in September. The airline will alternate the two 787s with a a [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] that currently operates on the route. The airline will take delivery of its third 787 in October and fourth in November, after which it will begin flights to Guangzhou with the aircraft.

Ethiopian received its 49th aircraft, its first Boeing 787-8, from Boeing in Seattle on 14 August.
The airline currently operates 12 [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] Next Generation aircraft and is awaiting delivery of seven more 737-800s. It will make a decision on a new narrowbody order after these deliveries are complete in 2014.
