SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—A mechanical problem forced a United flight bound for Chicago to land at Sioux Falls Regional Airport.
United Flight 158 from San Francisco landed without incident around 4 a.m. Monday. No injuries werereported.
Passenger Claire Carmichael told station KDLT that fire was coming out of the left engine of the jet, a Boeing 757.
United spokesman Mike Trevino says the pilot decided to divert to Sioux Falls because of a mechanical problem.
Trevino says he had no information about any flames from an engine. Trevino says 182 passengers were aboard, but he didn't know how many were in the flight crew. He says a replacement aircraft was sent to Sioux Falls to take the
passengers on to Chicago.

20 heures d'attente.
C'est un autre A 380 ( A6-EDH ) qui a remplacé celui qui a eu un arrêt en vol. ( A6-EDG )

Re: Incidents Moteurs présumés
Bonsoir,
IN BRIEF: Monarch flight turns back after report of fire
TTG, Travel Trade Gazette, U.K. and Ireland, Arrival Time: 2010-08-09ABizarre !
Monarch flight had to turn back on Tuesday night after eyewitnesses saw
flames coming from one of its engines. The Airbus A321 took off from
Birmingham on its way to Tenerife at 6.45pm but returned to the airport
10 minutes later. All 213 passengers disembarked safely. Onlookers
claimed to see flames coming from the engines, but Monarch said
engineers found no signs of a fire.
Moteur IAE V2500 ?

[Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] has disclosed that its second [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] has undergone an in-flight engine shutdown just a couple of days after entering into service.
The aircraft, powered by [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] engines, was delivered on 19 July and put into service last week on the Frankfurt-Tokyo route.
Lufthansa says that the aircraft was flying the return sector on 6 August when, about an hour before landing at Frankfurt, the crew took a "precautionary" decision to shut the engine down.
A spokesman for the airline says the decision followed the generation of "confusing numbers" on a cockpit indicator.
The indicator showed that the problem centred on oil pressure.
Lufthansa's main A380 maintenance base is located at Frankfurt, and the aircraft - serial number 41 - underwent an engine change in order to return it to service as quickly as possible.
Inspection revealed "substances" in the filter but Lufthansa has not given further details.
The company had a spare engine available and the aircraft went back into service on 7 August.
Both of the carrier's A380s are operating the Tokyo Narita route, providing a daily service to the Japanese capital from Frankfurt.

Re: Incidents Moteurs présumés
Un condensé vu chez UBM Aviation :
The Trent 700-powered aircraft touched down at a groundspeed of 230kt with the left-hand engine stuck at a high-thrust setting of approximately 70 per cent N1 and the right-hand engine stuck at around 17 per cent N1.
Passengers and crew safely evacuated the aircraft via the escape slides after rescue services reported fire around the landing gear; five tyres were deflated by the landing.
The investigators found "fine spherical particles" in the aircraft’s fuel system, which seized the main metering
valves of both engines.
These spheres have been traced back to the fuel distribution system at Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, Indonesia, from where the aircraft had departed. The fuel hydrant, from which the twinjet took on 24,400kg of fuel, was on a circuit that had recently been extended.
The CAD says that when the system was taken back into operation, "some of the re-commissioning procedures…were not in line with the guidelines and practices commonly used by the aviation industry, and that the hydrant fuel system… was used before the completion of the re-commissioning procedures".
Cathay said that no abnormalities have been observed by itself or other airlines operating flights out of Surabaya.
The CAD emphasised the investigation still continues and that a final report is later to be published.
