Qatar Airways selects 50 Airbus A320neo and 5 additional A380s
The State of Qatar’s national airline, Qatar Airways, has selected the A320neo as the reference aircraft for expanding its short to medium haul fleet and has increased its order for the A380. The agreement signed at the 2011 Dubai Airshow, is a firm contract for 50 A320neo aircraft and five additional A380s.
The A320neo is an option for the A320 Family and incorporates new engines and large "Sharklet" wing tip devices, which together will deliver 15 percent in fuel savings, representing some 3,600 tonnes less CO2 per aircraft per year.
“The A320neo promises to be a great aircraft which is why we have chosen it to form the backbone of our future single aisle expansion. Together with our increase in A380s and our orders for A350 XWB, we are continuing investing in an integrated Family of the world’s most modern and fuel efficient aircraft,” said Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways CEO.
“Qatar Airways supported the development of the Airbus A320neo very early on. It is with great pride that we are announcing this large order today including an additional five A380s,” said John Leahy Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers. “We appreciate having built a unique relationship with our friends at Qatar Airways over the years.”
Qatar Airways has ordered a total of 43 A320 Family aircraft directly from Airbus and, including leased aircraft has 38 in its fleet. The last four of the A320s on order will be provisioned for “Sharklets” following a recently signed agreement. Qatar Airways’ total A380 order increases to 10 aircraft following its initial order for two made in 2003, which was later raised to five in 2007. Qatar Airways’ current in-service fleet also includes the region’s largest number of A330s (29).
The A320neo has over 95 percent airframe commonality making it an easy fit into existing fleets while offering up to 500 nautical miles (950 kilometres) more range or two tonnes more payload. The A320neo reduces fuel burn by 15%, which is equivalent to 1.4m litres of fuel – the consumption of 1000 mid size cars. This saves 3600 tonnes of C02 per aircraft per year, the amount of CO2 absorbed by 240,000 mature trees. The A320neo aircraft also has a considerably smaller noise footprint. Sales of the neo have reached over 1,200 orders and commitments in under a year, making it the fastest selling aircraft ever.
Typically seating 525 passengers in a three class layout, the A380 is capable of flying 8,300 nautical miles / 15,300 kilometres non-stop, enabling direct service from Qatar to New York. As of today total firm orders for the aircraft stand at over 240 from 18 customers worldwide.

US-based Spirit commits to buy 75 Airbus A320s
US-based Spirit Airlines and Airbus on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding for 75 aircraft of the A320 family worth $6.7 billion at list price.
The commitment comprises 45 units of the fuel-efficient A320neo jetliner and 30 A320s, the two entities said at the signing ceremony.
"We are excited to expand our partnership with Airbus and grow into our next decade," said Ben Baldanza, chief executive officer of the Florida-based carrier.
The new aircraft will be used on Spirit's targeted market in the United States, Caribbean and Latin America, an Airbus statement said.
The agreement is expected to be firmed up before the end of the year, Airbus commercial director John Leahy said.
The planes should be delivered between 2016 and 2021.

"Big deal" !
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Nov. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Qatar Airways today announced an order for two Boeing 777 Freighters at the 2011 Dubai Air Show. Valued at $560 million at current list prices, the airplanes will increase the airline's 777 Freighter fleet to eight when delivered.
"As we accelerate efforts to boost our global cargo network, we are expanding our fleet with airplanes like the Boeing 777 Freighter that allow us to deliver cargo further and more efficiently than ever before," said Akbar Al Baker, CEO, Qatar Airways. "The 777 Freighter has already proven itself with its impressive operating economics and is a critical component of our cargo fleet, enabling the launch of three new dedicated freighter services to Atlanta, Houston and Toronto, from our hubs in Doha and Luxembourg."
Qatar Airways currently operates 28 Boeing 777s of various types, including 16 777-300ERs (extended range), three 777 Freighters and nine 777-200LRs. It recently took delivery of its 100th airplane which was a Boeing 777-200LR (longer range). By 2013, the airline plans to serve more than 120 destinations worldwide with a fleet of over 120 aircraft. The airline currently has a fleet of 100 aircraft flying to over 100 destinations.
"Qatar Airways' decision to invest in expanding its 777 Freighter fleet is an important endorsement for the aircraft from one of the world's fastest growing airlines," said Marty Bentrott, vice president, Sales – Middle East, Russia, Central Asia, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "Qatar Airways' expansion strategy is clearly built on the principle of delivering cargo efficiently from one point to another and its choice of the 777 Freighter, with its unparalleled capabilities, reflects that."
With high-cargo density and 10-foot (3.1-meter) interior height capability that complements the popular 747 freighter family, the 777 freighter can fly 4,900 nautical miles (9,070 kilometers) with a full payload of 225,200 pounds (102 metric tons). The 777 freighter is powered by General Electric's GE90-110B1L and meets QC2 noise standards.
Boeing is the air cargo industry leader, using its expertise to support customers in their success and to promote the industry. The company also offers the most complete family of freighters, which provide superior efficiency and operational economics in support of airline profitability.
The 777 Freighter is the world's longest-range, twin-engine freighter and features the lowest trip cost of any large cargo aircraft. The airplane is based on the Boeing 777-200LR (Long Range), which Qatar Airways operates on ultra long-haul passenger routes to Houston, Melbourne, Montreal, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires.

Airbus a raison !
------
John, ce n'est pas, "Put on your red shoes and dance" , ... c'est : "Put on your thinking-cap and dance" !
------

Airbus secures order for first ACJ321
Switzerland-based charter group Comlux ordered the aircraft, which it plans to receive in 2014. The company already operates the ACJ318, ACJ319 and ACJ320, and will be the first to have the entire family in its fleet.
"Airbus's ACJ321 will enable us to offer our passengers even more of the comfort and space that are the hallmarks of the Airbus corporate jet family, while delivering the highest standards in service on board," said Comlux CEO Richard Gaona.
The Comlux ACJ321 will be outfitted by Comlux America, and powered by CFM International CFM56-5B engines. It will be delivered in 2013, and enter into service the next year, said Gaona.
Airbus said that the ACJ321 has the widest and tallest cabin of any business jet in service, and offers even more floor space and baggage capacity than the other members of the family of aircraft.
"Adding the Airbus ACJ321 to our corporate jet family gives our customers an even wider choice," said John Leahy, Airbus chief operating officer customers.
"There are around 24 to 25 757s in service with governments around the world. They are good aircraft, but highly fuel inefficient. We aim to replace every single one of those aircraft with the ACJ321," he added.

OK ! Le rituel est bien présenté ! Bravo !

[quote]Volaris signs MOU for 44 A320 Family aircraft, including 30A320neo
Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for 44 eco-efficient Airbus A320 aircraft, comprising of 30 A320neo and 14 A320 Family aircraft. The order makes Volaris the first airline to order the A320neo in Mexico. Engine selection will be announced by the airline at a later date.
Since starting operations in 2006, Volaris has become one of the top three airlines in Mexico having quickly expanded their network throughout the country and into the United States. The new 44 A320 Family aircraft are expected to help Volaris continue their expansion and renew their fleet. The airline currently operates 33 Airbus aircraft and has a backlog of 15 more.
“Fuel efficiency and reliability are critical to keeping Volaris among the top low-cost carriers in Mexico,” said Enrique Beltranena, CEO of Volaris. “These new A320s will allow us to maintain the youngest fleet in the country, while further improving our environmental performance.”
“We are very proud to see Volaris, an all Airbus operator, grow into one of the leading airlines of Mexico,” said John Leahy, Chief Operating Officer, Customers. “Volaris will now be among the first customers in Latin America to benefit from the A320neo’s increased capabilities, including a 15 percent reduction in fuel burn and emissions.”
Over 8,100 A320 Family aircraft have been ordered and nearly 5,000 delivered to some 340 customers and operators worldwide reaffirming its position as the world’s best-selling single-aisle aircraft family. The A320neo has over 95 percent airframe commonality making it an easy fit into existing fleets while offering up to 500 nautical miles (950 kilometres) more range or two tonnes more payload at a given range.
The A320neo is a new engine option for the A320 Family entering into service from 2015 and incorporates latest generation engines and large "Sharklet" wing tip devices, which together will deliver 15 percent in fuel savings. The reduction in fuel burn is equivalent to 1.4 million litres of fuel - the consumption of 1,000 mid size cars, saving 3,600 tonnes of C02 per aircraft per year. The A320neo NOx emissions are 50% below CAEP/6, whilst also having a much smaller noise footprint. /quote]

Emirates 777 order was insurance against A350 delays; urges A380 stretch
“It is looking very good. Mind you, it is one thing to talk about what you can do another to guarantee it,” Clark said at the Dubai Airshow.
Un simple "upgrade" ne suffira pas ! C'est un vrai nouvel avion qu'il faudra !Boeing is reserved on details of 777 development, but analysts said a composite wing is a certainty along with weight reduction of up to 20,000 lbs. “They have learned a lot from the 787 program, which will be incorporated into the next upgrade of the 777,” one analyst said.
Quel toupet !
Absolument vrai ! Mais c'est une sujet tout à fait différent !Cela ne va pas oublier la pantalonnade de cette 'commande' de 50 x B777-300ER (avec 20 options) !Clark also told ATW he was urging Airbus to go ahead with a stretch A380 that would seat up to 670 in a three-class configuration.
“We would want an additional 120 to 150 seats and would use it on medium-range missions to cities such as Bangkok and Beijing,” Clark said, .....
OK !
On veut bien le croire ! Mais ç'est un autre sujet !...... noting that passengers will drive many miles to take an A380 flight.
“Our Manchester [A380] service is drawing passengers from all over the north of England. Passengers will drive to Manchester rather than our other cities such as Birmingham to pick up the A380,” he said.

Finalement Qatar aurait confirmé :
50 A 320 NEO, choix de moteurs PurePower PW1100G "nouvelle version"
(JM) assortis d'un contrat d'entretien spécifique "PureSolutionSM" P&W, début des livraisons 2015
5 A 380-800

Hawaiian Airlines signs firm order for five more A330s
Honolulu-based Hawaiian Airlines has grown its order for Airbus A330-200s – today signing for an additional five aircraft. Hawaiian became a new Airbus operator just last year and now has a commitment of 22 A330 aircraft – including four that are leased. The airline currently operates five A330-200s.
Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian’s president and CEO, said, “Adding these additional A330-200s to our fleet over the next four years will support the continued expansion of our network and replacement of our current 767-300s. Our guests have responded enthusiastically to the cabin comfort and amenities of the A330-200, which, together with the superior service of our front line employees, offer the best airline experience for travelers to Hawaii.”
"This has been our best week of the year in terms of sales, outside the Paris Airshow and it is very gratifying that Hawaiian tops it off with an order for five new A330 wide-bodies to fulfil their ambitious growth plans, "said John Leahy, Airbus Chief Operating Officer, Customers. “Just a year-and-a-half ago, I said I hoped that Hawaiian‘s passengers and employees would come to love this aircraft, and that hope has proven to be a reality.”
Hawaiian’s new A330s, like their existing A330 fleet, will seat 294 passengers in a comfortable, two-class configuration and have a range of more than 6,000 nautical miles. The A330-200 has excellent operational flexibility, serving a wide range of route structures, and provides operators with very low operating costs per seat. Its proven record of efficiency and superior passenger comfort provides airlines with a significant competitive advantage in today’s market. As of the end of October, there were 433 A330-200s in operation worldwide, with a backlog of firm orders of 131.

The orders were previously recorded on Boeing's Orders & Deliveries website, attributed to an unidentified customer.
"This order is part of our ongoing fleet expansion and modernization program, which enables us to offer our latest cabin products to our customers," said Goh Choon Phong, chief executive officer for Singapore Airlines (SIA). "The additional 777-300ERs will also help us further strengthen the Singapore Airlines network, providing our customers even more travel options."
The Singapore Airlines order is valued at $2.4 billion at Boeing current list prices. The order was first announced on August 10.
In total, Singapore Airlines has ordered 85 Boeing 777s, 27 of which are 777-300ERs.
"The men and women of Boeing are proud to build safe, comfortable and reliable airplanes for the passengers and crews of Singapore Airlines," said Ray Conner, senior vice president of Sales and Customer Support for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "For six generations, Boeing and SIA have together served Southeast Asia and the world with distinction. Oui !

The deal is an intention to purchase rather than a firm order. First announced by the White House, it also includes an option for another 150 aircraft worth an estimated $14bn. The US administration also announced a $2.4bn order by [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien]for eight 777 aircraft.
The Lion Air deal comes days after Boeing received the biggest firm order in its history, to sell [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien] for a list price of $18bn.
Oui ! C'est une illustration de "customer loyalty & follow-on business" !Lion Air is already Boeing’s biggest single-aisle jet customer but, nevertheless, the size of the potential order is significant. “This order is a big deal – like [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien], it is the scale as much as the carrier (a loyal Boeing airline),” wrote Rob Stallard, an analyst at RBC Capital Markets.
Oui ! The agreement is a boost for Boeing’s new 737 Max jet, an upgraded version of its bestselling single-aisle aircraft that is targeted for delivery in 2017.

Lion Air commits to up to 380 Boeing 737s
Il n'est pas besoin de commenter !Boeing has received a record provisional order worth $21.7 billion from Indonesian low-cost carrier Lion Air for up to 380 single-aisle 737-family aircraft, including 201 of its re-engined 737 Max.
The 230 aircraft order, which also includes 29 CFM International CFM56-powered 737-900ERs, is a record for the airframer in both list price value and the total number of aircraft. The order includes purchase rights (Sevrien : 'droits d'achat') for a further 150 aircraft.
The announcement coincides with US President Barack Obama's arrival in Indonesia and comes just days after Boeing broke its own order record with Emirates' $18 billion purchase of 50 777-300ER.
Boeing said President Obama will witness the official announcement ceremony on the morning of 18 November in Bali, Indonesia, site of the East Asia Summit.
Lion AIr joins American Airlines as the second disclosed customer for the 737 Max, whose total commitments stand at 700 from nine customers according to the airframer.
To date, Boeing has not announced its intended list price for any of the three 737 Max models, the -7, -8 and -9, though the indicated Lion Air order price places the 737 Max at approximately $95 million per aircraft.
Boeing's 737-900ER catalog price is listed at $89.6 million.
According to to Flightglobal's ACAS database, Lion Air already has 125 737-800 or -900ERs on order.
Boeing has yet to firm any orders for the recently launched CFM International Leap-1B-powered 737 Max.

Aviation Capital Group (ACG) announced Thursday an intent to order 35 Boeing 737 Max aircraft, and a firm order for 20 737-800NextGens.
Newport Beach, Calif.-based ACG is the first leasing company to commit to the 737 Max.
The CFM International Leap-1B is the exclusive engine on the Max.
A Boeing spokesman said the Max order was not yet firm because the lessor still had to work out specific configurations.
ACG Group MD and CEO R. Stephen Hannahs called the 737 “one of the prime building blocks of our portfolio strategy,” and said the new 737NG and 737 Max aircraft will “continue our long-standing strategy of providing our customers the most fuel efficient, most capable airplanes with the lowest operating costs."
With today's announcement, ACG has ordered or committed to a total of 151 Boeing airplanes made up of 111 Next-Generation 737s, 35 737 Maxs and five 787 Dreamliners.
This includes 15 737NGs for which ACG acquired delivery positions from another airline in 2006.

BOC Aviation to buy 15 E190s
Singapore-based aircraft lessor BOC Aviation will purchase 15 Embraer E190 aircraft with deliveries scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2012 and run through 2014.
"We see excellent potential for the E190 not only here in Asia where there is strong growth, but also with airlines around the world that have discovered the importance of 100-seat aircraft capacity, both in developing new markets and complementing narrow-body operations with relevant economic gains," said Robert Marin, BOC Aviation director and CEO.
The deal marks BOC's first purchase of Embraer aircraft. The company operates 179 Airbus and Boeing aircraft, and has 73 on firm order.
"The E190 will allow us to expand the range of BOC Aviation products to customers in established and emerging markets," added Martin.
Visiblement, une décision bien réfléchie !
