The aircraft will take off from Boeing facilities in Everett on 27 September, and arrive in Tokyo on 28 September, said the Star Alliance member in a statement.
"As launch customer, we are delighted to be taking delivery of our first 787 Dreamliner. This aircraft will enable us to offer new standards of service and comfort to our passengers and will play an important role in our international expansion strategy as we seek to become Asia's number one airline," said Shinichiro Ito, president and CEO of ANA.
"The airplane is ready. ANA is ready. And, Boeing is ready," said Jim Albaugh, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "This airplane begins a new chapter in aviation history."

All Nippon Airways has confirmed for the first time excess weight has pushed the airline to deploy early 787s on short haul and regional operations rather than long-haul routes.
"The early 787s are actually much heavier than later-coming deliveries," said ANA senior vice president Satoru Fujiki during a briefing to reports in Everett, Washington. "So, for those aircraft we have taken an option to introduce those aircraft for domestic short haul and regional operations."
Both Airplanes Eight and 24, the first two deliveries to ANA, will be configured with 264 seats for short-haul and regional operations. ANA has not disclosed which of its deliveries will have its 158-seat long-haul international configuration, but plans to start a three-times weekly service from Tokyo's Haneda Airport to Frankfurt in January.
Boeing has not provided any specific figures on how much excess weight the 787 is carrying, but confirms that early aircraft are heavier than planned.
Starting with its 20th 787, Boeing will increase the maximum takeoff weight of the 787 from 219,539kg (484,000lb) to 227,930kg (502,500lb) to recapture some of its lost payload range capacity.
ANA and Japan Airlines, both early launch customers for the 787, were the only two carrier to order the short-haul 787-3, which was later permanently shelved by Boeing in January 2010 after engineering resources were diverted to the -8 and -9 models.
ANA is scheduled to receive all 55 787s, including 15 787-9s, before April 2018. Of the first 20 deliveries, ANA will receive the first 12 by 31 March 2012 and the next eight aircraft before 1 April 2013.

All Nippon Airways has confirmed for the first time excess weight has pushed the airline to deploy early 787s on short haul and regional operations rather than long-haul routes.

Oui ! "Net Empty Weight". Airbus a été obligé de faire la même chose, dans le principe, avec l'A340-600HGW !Starting with its 20th 787, Boeing will increase the maximum takeoff weight of the 787 from 219,539kg (484,000lb) to 227,930kg (502,500lb) to recapture some of its lost payload range capacity.
Oui.ANA and Japan Airlines, both early launch customers for the 787, were the only two carrier to order the short-haul 787-3, which was later permanently shelved by Boeing in January 2010 after engineering resources were diverted to the -8 and -9 models.
Ou, va-t-il y avoir encore du 'glissement' ("slippage") ?ANA is scheduled to receive all 55 787s, including 15 787-9s, before April 2018.

Rolls-Royce powers new era in air transport with delivery of first Boeing 787 Dreamliner to All Nippon Airways
Monday, 26 September 2011
Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has welcomed the delivery today of the first Boeing 787 Dreamliner to launch customer All Nippon Airways (ANA) as the beginning of a new era in air transportation. The aircraft, which will enter into revenue passenger service next month, is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines.
Mark King, Rolls-Royce President – Civil Aerospace, said: “We are very proud to power the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, an aircraft that represents a quantum leap in technology over the generation of airliners it will replace. It marks the beginning of a new era of cleaner and more efficient airliners and all of us at Rolls-Royce would like to congratulate Boeing and ANA on this major milestone for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.”
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner’s 21st century design features advanced composite materials which make up 50 per cent of the aircraft’s primary structure, including the fuselage and wings, making the aircraft much lighter. The aircraft is 20 per cent more fuel efficient than the airliners it will replace.
L'avion livré à ANA aujourd'hui devra se contenter, vraisemblabement, d'un gain en "fuel-burn efficiency" limité à 17% à 18% (surpoids oblige ! ).
Advances in engine technology account for the majority of the fuel efficiency improvements and also ensure that the Boeing 787 Dreamliner is quieter and cleaner.
The Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 is specifically designed for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and incorporates the latest aerodynamic, materials and coating technologies in an in-service airliner.
Oui !
The Trent 1000 produces up to 74,000 lbs of thrust on take-off.
Oui !
The engine ran for the first time in 2006, powered the Boeing 787 Dreamliner’s first flight in December 2009 and has since powered 75 per cent of all test flights. The engine was fitted to five out of the seven aircraft in the Boeing 787 Dreamliner flight test programme which culminated in the US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) awarding the Boeing 787 Dreamliner its type certification last month.
Shhh !;)Key facts about the Trent 1000:
- Customers that have selected the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 to power their 787 Dreamliners include Air China, Air Europa, Air New Zealand, Air Niugini, Arkia, ANA, Avianca, Aviation Capital Group, British Airways, CIT, Delta, ILFC, LAN, LOT, Norwegian, Royal Brunei, and Virgin Atlantic.
- The Trent 1000 front fan is over 9 ft feet across and sucks in up to 1.25 tonnes of air every second at take-off.
- High pressure turbine blades inside the engine rotate at 13,500 rpm, with their tips reaching 1,200mph – twice the speed of sound.
- At take off each of the Trent 1000’s 66 high pressure turbine blades generates the same power as produced by a Formula One racing car. That is 800 horse power per blade.
- Temperatures inside the hottest parts of the engine are around half as hot as the surface of the sun.
- At full power air leaves the nozzle at the back of the engine travelling at almost 900mph.
- A Trent 1000-powered Boeing 787 Dreamliner on take-off is at least 3dB quieter than the generation of aircraft it will replace. A 3dB noise reduction is equivalent to halving the noise energy.
- The Trent 1000 engine is designed to fly for 20,000 hours before its first overhaul. This is equivalent to over 11 million miles flown, or 450 times around the world.

Package B Trent 1000s still in testing: R-R and Boeing.

Boeing and Rolls-Royce have corrected previous statements that inaccurately confirmed that an upgraded version of the Trent 1000 turbofan has already flown on the second 787 to be delivered to All Nippon Airways.
Instead, the Package B update of the Trent 1000 remains in testing on Airplane Four, a flight test aircraft, and has not been installed on Airplane 24. The latter aircraft, which first flew on 24 September, will be handed over to ANA next month as the carrier's second 787, joining Airplane Eight, which was delivered on 25 September. Both aircraft are powered by Package A Trent 1000s, and are configured for domestic and regional operations with 264 seats,
Instead, Package B engines will launch ANA's long-haul services connecting Tokyo's Haneda Airport with Frankfurt, Rolls-Royce has said.
Programme and industry sources also say Airplane 31 is likely to be that first aircraft to enter services with Package B engines. Airplane 31 could be delivered to ANA in November or December, allowing the carrier to launch service to Frankfurt as scheduled in January.
The Package B engine incorporates a revised six-stage low pressure turbine (LPT) design, high-aspect-ratio blades, relocation of the intermediate-pressure (IP) compressor bleed offtake ports and a fan outlet guide vanes with improved aerodynamics. The updated engine will bring specific fuel consumption to within 1% of the original specification.
The engines, which have been flying since May on test aircraft ZA004, is currently undergoing noise evaluations in Glasgow, Montana.
Encore ce genre d'histoire ! Qui est gêné ? Boeing ou RR ? Tirez vos conclusions !

Heureusement le n° 2 est arrivé. Mais le prmier va perdre un peu de sa valeur à l'argus...ANA knocks first 787 into boarding bridge
All Nippon Airways has admitted that its first Boeing 787 suffered some slight surface damage to its engine inlet cowl after it hit a passenger boarding bridge.
The incident took place while ground crew were towing the aircraft, JA801A, on 13 October, said the spokesman.
He added that the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000-powered aircraft suffered only surface damage, and that it resumed regular flight tests on 14 October after the company did some checks.
"Everything was fine. There was only some surface damage, and the aircraft was back in operation on schedule," said the spokesman.
The inaugural flight for the 787 is on track for 26 October. This will be a special charter service between Tokyo's Narita airport and Hong Kong.
Regular scheduled services start on 1 November, with daily flights between Tokyo's Haneda airport and the cities of Okayama and Hiroshima. International operations are due to begin in December on the Haneda-Beijing route.
The spokesman also said that ANA has received its second 787, which was delivered to the Japanese carrier on 16 October.

A voir ! ;)

All Nippon Airways' (ANA) first Boeing 787 has taken off from Tokyo's Narita airport on its inaugural flight.
Voilà l'espoir ! A voir !The special charter service departed from Narita at roughly 12:40 local time on 26 October and is scheduled to land at Chek Lap Kok Airport in Hong Kong at 15:50 local time.
The aircraft, Boeing's Airplane Eight, with the registration number JA801A, is carrying 240 passengers - both members of the media and revenue passengers. ANA auctioned seats to the passengers travelling on the inaugural flight.
The aircraft is configured with 264 seats - 12 in business class and 252 in economy class.ANA has ordered 55 787s, two of which have been delivered. The airline hopes to have 12 aircraft in service by the end of its current fiscal year ending on 31 March 2012, and another eight one year later. .

Cela doit être pour une édition spéciale des JO !Airplane Eight was contractually delivered by Boeing on 25 September and arrived at Tokyo's Haneda airport on 27 September.
Scheduled service begins on 1 November between Tokyo Haneda and Okayama and Tokyo Haneda and Hiroshima. ANA's first long haul flight from Tokyo to Beijing, China is scheduled to begin in December.
La personne doit vouloir dire "great growth potential" !ANA is operating its first revenue flight of the 787 after more than three and a half years of programme delays. But during a pre-flight press conference, ANA president and CEO Shinichiro Ito said the 787 is a game changer in the world of civil aviation, and with the greater fuel efficiency, ANA plans to operate the aircraft on long haul services to destinations in Europe and North America.
"We have been through hard times in the development of the Boeing 787, but we believe ANA has acquired great growth in being the first airline to fly the airplane," he added.

ANA Interested In A Stretched 787
All Nippon Airways Executive Vice President Keisuke Okada said the airline would be interested in any stretched version of Boeing's 787 Dreamliner.
ANA has already ordered 55 787s. Boeing has not yet decided if it is going to launch a stretched version of the plane.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner took its first paying passengers aloft on Wednesday on a special charter flight from Tokyo to Hong Kong flown by launch customer ANA.

Bien entendu, RR serait ravi !

All Nippon Airways 787. Courtesy, Boeing.
Boeing confirmed to ATW an All Nippon Airways (ANA) 787 aircraft has “returned to service” following a landing gear problem Sunday, less than two weeks after the aircraft’s inaugural flight ([Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien]).
Reuters reported that “pilots on the first of two aircraft delivered so far to ANA were forced to deploy the landing gear using a manual backup system Sunday after an indicator lamp suggested the wheels were not properly down. They landed at Okayama at the second attempt following the incident,” the airline told Reuters.
Boeing told ATW in an emailed statement: “We are aware of this matter and are on-site in Japan with ANA offering whatever assistance they require. Today we can confirm maintenance has been completed and the airplane has returned to service.”

First ANA 787 suffers gear malfunction
All Nippon Airways saw its first significant 787 operational hiccup on 6 November, as the newly introduced aircraft suffered a malfunction that prevented the main gear from extending on the crew's first attempt.
A photograph taken of the first 787 delivered, JA801A, on approach to Okayama Airport shows the main landing gear doors in the retracted position, while the nose gear extended normally.
The Wall Street Journal indicated that a failed hydraulic valve was at fault, being replaced on site. Boeing said the aircraft has since been repaired and has re-entered service. The airframer did not discuss the nature of the failure.
Vu. OK.
Photos taken of the aircraft following landing at Okayama showing the nose and main landing gear body doors hanging free from the aircraft, indicates the crew selected an alternate gear swing to achieve full extension.
"Boeing has a support staff in Japan based at Haneda as part of our ongoing support for our customer and it is an expanded crew during initial entry into service activities," the airframer stated, adding that it can position staff on an "as needed basis" depending on the requirement.
Nous avons compris.
ANA began its first scheduled routes on 1 November between Tokyo-Haneda airport and Okayama and Hiroshima.
The 787's landing gear is hydraulically actuated by the centre 5000psi hydraulic system. The centre system and its twin electric-motor-driven hydraulic pumps actuate the flaps, nose gear and steering, main gear and flight controls. One of the two centre system pumps is constantly running, while the second is available during high demand phases of flight.
Each main landing gear has four different hydraulic valve modules, each responsible for a different part of the sequence of raising and lowering of the 787's main landing gear and associated body doors.
OK. Compris.

Aujourd'hui, ANA a 55 commandes fermes.

Boeing scrambles to meet 787 delivery targets for 2011
Surtout quand, dans la rivalité avec Airbus, il aperdu, ou va perdre la bataille des Commandes Reçues ("Orders Received" / "Order Intake").Boeing is scrambling to hand over three more 787s to All Nippon Airways before the close of 2011, aiming to meet at least a portion of its delivery guidance for the new twinjet. Boeing scrambles to meet 787 delivery targets for 2011.
Oui !However, the slow pace of deliveries has already had an effect on ANA's commercial deployment of the type.
Le "Rework", de toutes les façons, a un impact négatif sur la productivité normale !Airplane 31, registration JA805A, the next aircraft in line for delivery, entered customer flight evaluations on 21 December. It flew on 5 December for the first time and then undertook further Boeing crew production flights, including one on 9 December that resulted in a declared emergency for what is believed to have been an issue with the aircraft's flaps.
The 787 was due to have been handed over in November, but ANA announced a delay citing "productivity reasons", while Boeing blamed the need to "incorporate design changes on assembled" aircraft.
Oui (soit, .... 5 ou 6).Boeing's most recent delivery guidance is set at 15 to 20 747-8s and 787s, with the new twin accounting for approximately one-third of those deliveries.
Boeing began 2011 with guidance of 25 to 40 deliveries, which was then cut to 25 to 30 in July. Boeing has so far delivered two 787s to ANA and eight 747-8 Freighters to three customers - Cathay Pacific, Atlas Air and Cargolux.
Oui ! "It's the rework, dummy" !Part of the problem is the need for additional work to be undertaken on each aircraft.
Oui ! C'est le fruit d'un manque d'organisation et d'anticipation, entre autres !Although the airframer's final assembly line in Everett, Washington is running reliably at 2.5 aircraft per month, the need for each 787 to undergo change incorporation and modification operations - split between the Everett Modification Center (EMC) and the Global Service & Support Facility in San Antonio, Texas - means the company is struggling to meet its proposed delivery rate.
Mais c'est plus fort qu'eux ; ils veulent avoir le dernier mot, même quand ils ne connaissent et ne comprennent rien à l'affaire !Programme sources said another cause of the delivery delay has been the replacement of the Hamilton Sundstrand APS-500 auxiliary power unit on Airplane 31, as well as two additional unidentified 787s. Boeing confirmed three APUs had been removed and returned to Hamilton Sundstrand for root cause analysis because of "a recent start-up issue", but declined to say if Airplane 31 had been one of the three.
C'est noté !Airplanes 41 (JA807A) and nine (JA804A), the latter of which had already been through the company's change incorporation process for its trials in system functionality and reliability (F&R) and extended operations (ETOPS), are slated to join Airplane 31 as 2011 deliveries. Airplane 41 made its maiden sortie on 19 December and Airplane nine returned to flying on 21 December.
Vu.However, programme sources acknowledge that delivering those aircraft during the remainder of 2011 will be a challenge.
The delayed deliveries have slowed the type's deployment, with ANA postponing its first scheduled international service, connecting Tokyo-Haneda to Beijing, from December to 14 January. Although its first long-haul link between Haneda and Frankfurt is still set to begin on 21 January, ANA will alternate a 777-200ER and a 787-8 on the route beginning 1 February, pushing its initially planned daily 787 service to the German city to 1 March.
Oui ! Long-range routes will be enabled by the now-certified Package B Rolls-Royce Trent 1000, which was given its US Federal Aviation Administration certification pairing with the 787 airframe on 19 December.
It brings the engine specific fuel consumption within 1% of the engine-maker's original specification.
Nous verrons cela ultérieurement ! ;) "Wait & see" !ANA announced on 21 December its first US routes with the 787 would connect Tokyo Narita to Seattle and San Jose, California some time during its 2012 fiscal year, which begins on 1 April.

ANA announces new 787 livery, routes

C'est un article de remplissage, pour 'l'après Noël'.All Nippon Airways (ANA) has announced the dates it will begin operating the Boeing 787 on three domestic routes, as well as a livery change for future aircraft.
The carrier will operate the 787 on the Tokyo Haneda-Osaka Itami and Haneda-Yamaguchi routes from 23 January 2012, and the Haneda-Matsuyama route from 1 March, said ANA in a statement.
In addition, there will be a livery change for its third and subsequent 787s. Aircraft delivered in the company's fiscal year 2012, which will end in March 2013, will have '787' painted in bold blue on the forward fuselage.
ANA, which has received two 787s, already operates the twinjet on the Haneda-Okayama and Haneda-Hiroshima routes. It will launch on 21 January the first 787 international service on the Haneda-Frankfurt route.
Boeing is scrambling to hand over three more aircraft before the end of 2011. However, the slow pace of deliveries has already affected ANA's commercial deployment of the type.
Airplane 31, registration JA805A, which is the next aircraft in line for delivery, entered customer flight evaluations on 21 December. 787 achieves 96.3% dispatch reliability
After two and a half months of scheduled service, All Nippon Airways' (ANA) Boeing 787 fleet has achieved a dispatch reliability of 96.3% as it plans to expand Japanese domestic operations and begin its first scheduled international routes.
We have not had enough time, not accumulated sufficient critical mass of operations, ... and do not have sufficient experience or hindsight to give any meaning to such a ratio" !
Intéressant, .... mais "meaningless" !ANA entered the 787 into regular service on Japanese domestic routes on 1 November and have operated two 80-90min flights each day.
The reliability of the first two 787s delivered in September and October 2011, and joined by a third on 4 January, nearly matches the ANA group-wide fleet reliability of 96.5%.
100,000 passagers ! Voilà une bonne nouvelle !The airline said its load factors on the new jet have reached 88% on its routes between Tokyo Haneda airport and Hiroshima and Okayama, compared to 72.2% on all services between the two cities, up from 67.7% a year earlier.
ANA expects to carry its 100,000th 787 passenger on 15 January on flight 686, connecting Hiroshima with Tokyo Haneda airport.
Noté.Boeing confirmed ANA took contractual delivery of its fourth 787 on 12 January and the fifth is expected to follow on 13 January, said programme sources.
The airline will begin its first international service between Haneda and Beijing on 14 January, followed by services on 17 and 18 January and its first long-haul flight between Tokyo Narita airport and Frankfurt, Germany on 21 January.
Réactions ?Domestic operations are set to expand on the Okayama and Hiroshima routes on 13 January, moving from one to two flights per day.
ANA will begin Haneda flights to Yamaguchi Ube and Itami (Osaka) from 23 January.
After the commencement of its 2012 fiscal year on 1 April, ANA will add Haneda to Matuyama and Narita to Seattle and San Jose, California.
